Summary: Provide the graphics infrastructure to enable the first-class desktop
user experience in Ubuntu
Key responsibilities:
Package new releases of the X window system as they become available, in accord with Ubuntu release schedules
Build a strong working relationship with the upstream X development community, increasing awareness of our needs and processes
Work with graphics hardware vendors to ensure that Ubuntu takes full advantage of the capabilities of their products
Analyze, triage and respond to bug reports regarding the X subsystem in Ubuntu, forwarding to upstream developers as appropriate
Key skills and qualities:
Broad knowledge of graphics hardware and related software, including drivers for our X server
Ability to diagnose and fix bugs in a variety of components of the Ubuntu graphics subsystem, including the X server and its drivers
Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation, delivering according to a schedule
Familiarity with open source development tools and methodology, especially those in common use for Ubuntu and Debian package maintenance
