Core engineering
Ubuntu engineered for you
Canonical provides custom development services to help companies benefit from the power of Linux. If your development team wants custom development involving Linux who better to ask than the company that's created the fastest growing Linux distribution?
Using the expertise gained by developing Ubuntu, Canonical builds bespoke solutions for enterprise clients. Linux is considered a great platform for custom development due to its flexibility, open-source nature, focus on open standards and peer-reviewed engineering. Ubuntu contains all these elements with the addition of a royalty-free, maintained distribution and a transparent, open and predictable development model.
Custom development
Canonical's developers undertake development projects ranging from customising Ubuntu to providing embedded systems. A few examples of the development options are:
Ubuntu derivatives. Companies using Ubuntu on the server or desktop often want it to closely match their environments. Alterations made to the distribution range from changing the interface to reflect a particular brand to changing the applications available or altering the configuration.
Embedded development. Ubuntu Core is an ideal foundation for a variety of embedded systems from point-of-sale (POS) systems to in-car info-tainment and network appliances. Common alterations include optimising hardware operation for low-resource environments.
Architectural porting. Ubuntu is architecturally flexible having been ported to x86, x64, PowerPC, Itanium and UltraSparc. Canonical's developers provide assistance to port Ubuntu to new architectures and provide custom development to take advantage of the architectures' features.
If you have a project that we can help you with, or any questions on how we can help your company benefit from the power of Ubuntu, please contact us.
