Landscape Hosted Edition

Landscape Hosted Edition is an easy-to-use systems management and monitoring service that enables you to administer multiple Ubuntu machines as easily as one through a simple Web-based interface. Delivered over the Internet as a Software as a Service (SaaS), Landscape Hosted provides powerful, secure and automated systems administration capabilities without the need to invest in hardware or on-site support. You simply register your machines with the Landscape service and all system updates, user control, process management, inventory reporting and monitoring tools are available through a Web interface that you can reach from any Web enabled browser. Since all communication happens over a secure HTTPS port, your privacy is protected. As your needs grow and you add new machines to your environment, you manage new systems by simply registering them to your account. And, because Landscape is designed to be flexible, you can add physical, virtual or Cloud based systems to your account at any time.

Software as a Service architectural model

Basic architecture model for Landscape. Each of your systems connects to the Internet and securely exchanges information about packages and system operational parameters with the central Landscape servers. Ubuntu packages are then downloaded directly from the Ubuntu repository.

How do I get Landscape?

Landscape is available free of charge with all of Canonical’s server support contracts. As part of your annual server subscription you are allowed unlimited access to this powerful tool that will reduce the cost of ownership in your Linux environment significantly.

Landscape is also available by subscription for Canonical's desktop customers and for those who do not require support contracts.  Subscription to the Landscape service is priced at $150 per node per year.
